Tutoring

Description

For the past five semesters, I have had the privilege of working as a tutor at ACU, guiding students through the foundational and advanced concepts of programming. From Programming I and II to Object-Oriented Programming, I’ve had the opportunity to help newcomers in the CS department build their understanding and confidence in coding. My role involves working one-on-one and in group settings, explaining core concepts, debugging code, and guiding students through problem-solving techniques. A significant part of my job is helping newcomers in the CS department build a strong foundation in coding and logical thinking.

Reflection

This experience has been deeply meaningful to me because it has allowed me to share my passion for programming while also fostering a sense of community within the CS department. Helping students navigate complex concepts and witnessing their breakthroughs has reinforced my own understanding and strengthened my ability to communicate technical ideas clearly. It’s been nothing short of a blessing to watch students grow in their skills and problem-solving abilities. One of the most rewarding aspects of this role has been receiving heartfelt letters of gratitude from students, which I've displayed in my room as a reminder of the impact I’ve been fortunate to make. On a professional level, tutoring has honed my patience, adaptability, and leadership skills—qualities that are essential for any career in technology or academia. More importantly, it has taught me the value of mentorship and the impact that guidance can have on someone’s journey.

NEXT Lab

Description

At my job in a nuclear lab, I work with various PLCs, wiring systems, and automation tasks to support critical operations. One of my key projects involved implementing a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for monitoring thermal levels and sampling salt in a Fluoride-Salt tank, ensuring the safe operation of the Molten Salt Test System. I programmed a P1AM-100 in C to read input data from thermocouple modules, enabling precise molten salt level calculations. Additionally, I designed and implemented a control system on the Industruino to automate the lowering and raising of a molten salt sampler using a bipolar stepper motor and a pulley system, allowing for controlled and efficient sampling.

Reflection

This job has been an incredible learning experience, not just in technical skills but also in understanding industry standards and best practices. My mentor has been instrumental in my growth, teaching me valuable industry terms, guiding me through complex automation challenges, and providing support. Working in this environment has reinforced my problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and understanding of real-world engineering applications. This position is the closest thing to real-world experience that I've gained and I'm very grateful for every bit of it.

Working Out

Description

The ACU rec center provides a well-equipped space for me to get a complete workout in. It offers a variety of equipment and facilities to support different fitness goals. From free weights and squat racks to treadmills and resistance machines, there are plenty of options for strength training and cardiovascular exercise. The gym also features designated areas for stretching, core workouts, and functional training. I've had to privilege to use the facilities provided by the rec during my bulking and cutting phases. Whether I want to gain mass or cut to a lean body type, the rec has always been the go-to spot for me.

Reflection

Spending time at the gym has become an essential part of my daily routine, providing both physical and mental benefits. It serves as a place to reset, refocus, and push myself beyond previous limits. Working out not only keeps me in good physical health but also plays a significant role in maintaining mental clarity and reducing stress. The consistency and discipline required in the gym translate into other aspects of life, reinforcing resilience and self-motivation. Each session is a reminder of progress, and for that, I am grateful.

India Trip

Description

During my trip to India, I had the opportunity to visit Hyderabad, Delhi, and Vijayawada, each offering unique experiences. In Delhi, I toured the Taj Mahal, witnessing its breathtaking architecture and historical significance. In Hyderabad, I carried out mission work, preaching at numerous congregations scattered throughout the surrounding areas. I also visited a church that my aunt donated to one of the local communities, seeing firsthand the impact it had on those who worshiped there. Additionally, my dad donated money to build wells in tribal villages, and I was able to visit these sites, experiencing the culture and traditions of the tribal people. One of the most powerful moments of the trip was witnessing over 20 baptisms, marking a significant spiritual transformation for many individuals.

Reflection

This trip was an incredibly meaningful experience that deepened my faith and broadened my perspective on service and generosity. Seeing how the church and the wells provided both spiritual and physical nourishment to communities reminded me of the profound impact that giving can have. Preaching and witnessing baptisms filled me with a sense of purpose, strengthening my belief in the importance of mission work. Experiencing the culture and traditions of the tribal people was both humbling and eye-opening, reinforcing the value of gratitude and service. By the end of the trip, I felt spiritually renewed and inspired to carry forward the lessons of faith, generosity, and connection into my daily life.
